BioSand unit and Trojan UVMaxC unit installed in a home in Uganda, Africa. The following is from an e-mail sent by the customer.
"...we are living in the capital city Kampala...I've taken the initiative to get the water purification system up and running, and wow, it's great. As far as drinking water straight from the tap in Kampala, it is impossible. The number of bacteria and diseases that inflict the city water here is amazing. I am constantly listening to reports on the radio of the latest cholera breakouts... Up until I installed the purification system, we had been purchasing factory bottled water...
... have taken the opportunity to install the purifier in (an unused) shower room. This is great for us because I was able to supply myself with a constant source of tapwater via the shower head. The head flows directly into the top of the sand filter. (Top left image). I store my water in 20 litre containers that fit on your typical home water cooler.
I have really had a good time installing and learning all about this filter...it is very easy to use. All one has to do is walk in, turn on the UV filter, then turn on the water supply from the shower head and then open the outlet valve which feeds the 20 litre container, look at your watch and come back in one hour."
