How Does the JRSF Work?

The Judo JRSF self-cleaning filter diverts the water flow through both an upper and lower stainless steel filter screen. The two filter screens trap the sediment present in the water before it enters the plumbing system and has a chance to damage expensive mechanical equipment.

The sediment gradually builds up on the respective screens. Both screens are completely visible to easily determine when a backwash is required.

Behind each of the two screens are filter chambers that can be alternately backwashed. The backwashing is activated by twisting a multi-way valve. While one chamber is backwashed, the second chamber continues to supply filtered water.

As soon as the backwashing begins, a flush valve is opened to an indirect drain. Because the drain is at atmospheric pressure, a reverse siphoning effect enables the chamber to flush the impurities away from the filter. The backwash cycle takes only a few minutes and uses only a few gallons of water.

The filter screens can filter particles from 30 microns to 2mm.

The JRSF is also available with automatic backwash controls (JRSF-ATP) and for hot and warm water applications (JRSF-HW).
